AnyDesk is a very helpful software tool that specializes in securely sharing your screen with another authorized user.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Like the saying goes, having the ability to see and share your screen enables us to save time and also be better teachers.
The AnyDesk software is simple and easy to download, free for our clients, and security and privacy focused. Our annual investment in AnyDesk is well worth it as it makes instruction simple and engaging.
Please make sure you download and install the software on your computer ahead of our reserved remote class time. Download their software here at: https://www.anydesk.com
First, visit the AnyDesk website at https://www.anydesk.com and then download their latest client software.
The download of AnyDesk.dmg will likely save into your Downloads folder. Navigate there and double click to open.
As the graphic shows, simply click and drag AnyDesk onto your Applications folder to install it.
This is called a "Drag-and-Drop" install, which copies the program to your Mac inside its Applications folder.
Because this is a remote desktop software, it requires extra security permissions to be granted for it to work right.
Upon launching the software it will greet you with Systems Permission Status window. Simply click on each of the links to be fast-forwarded to the necessary System Setting to allow Screen Sharing (see your screen), and Accessibility (to move your mouse and type).
Slide the slider next to AnyDesk to On (Blue)
Next you will be prompted to enter your Administrator password, which is the same one you use to log-in to your Mac.
After enabling the permission, your Mac will inform you that it won't take affect until the program is restarted.
Since we have another permission to enable, click Later and then go back to the System Permissions Status wizard again to complete the Accessibility permission...
Repeat the same process as before to grant permissions for AnyDesk within the Accessibility security preference, which will allow the remote teacher to move your mouse and type.
The Full Disk Access permission is completely optional and is not necessary in most cases. We will explain situations where we'd need to use that, but for simple class instruction it is definitely not needed to be on.
With both Screen Sharing and Accessibility permissions now enabled, you'll need to close AnyDesk and restart it to apply the setting updates.
Once launched you'll be ready for our remote instruction!
While talking to you, we'll ask for your Address number in orange and then ask for your permission to connect.
What's great about AnyDesk is how secure it is!
We can only see your screen once you've granted us permission while the program is open, and once our class is over and we've disconnected then we're out.
Just close the AnyDesk app and it'll be there waiting for your next class with us.
